Human Futures' Jacob Wamberg to speak on ’Art in Nature’

Seminar on the Anthropocene and German idealism.

Human Futures’ Jacob Wamberg will give a talk on ‘Art in Nature’ at the seminar Man and Nature on April 5. Professor Jacob Wamberg is a researcher of Art History at Aarhus University. One of his latest research projects is “Posthuman Aesthetics” where he also co-edited the book The Posthuman Condition: Ethics, Aesthetics and Politics of Biotechnological Challenges (2012, co-edited with Kasper Lippert-Rasmussen and Mads Rosendahl Thomsen).

The seminar is organized by the German Idealism Research Unit at Aarhus university and will be about the relationship between man and nature, discussing German Idealism in the age of the Anthropocene.

The Anthropocene thesis has also been of great interest to the Human Futures Research Programme, as it describes the centring of man. This means that not only is the human being a creature subjected to nature; it is also a creature essentially influencing nature.

The seminar will take place on Friday, April 5, meeting room 2, at Studenterhus Aarhus, AU.
