This seminar is a continuation of the Why Aesthetics Matter seminar held on April 18, 2018.

We invite you to a morning of 3 short presentations with different perspectives on the influence of aesthetics, followed by a discussion on Thursday, October 11

Aesthetics is often a very significant force of change: The length to which humans will go to change their physical appearance. The choices they are willing to make on behalf of their offspring. The design of technological artefacts. The interfaces we use for computing. The voices we surround us with. The learning spaces we create. And beyond that: the cultivation of fauna and flora and rewilding projects. On a political level all of these phenomena are also influenced by the representation they are given, in words, images and film, whose persuasiveness is also depended on their aesthetic qualities.
